Clear The Clutter- Mind, Body & Spirit
I always do a big purge before the holidays! There is something about clearing out the old before I bring in the new that has always resonated with me. In the past it’s just been about clothing and toy donations, supporting my favorite charities and making sure I’d shredded those nagging documents in the “to be shredded” bin! But clearing the clutter has taken on an even bigger meaning to me. I am now conscious of clearing the clutter mind body and spirit! A true refresh that is very much needed especially after surviving 2020!
Our mindset is our biggest superpower! When we protect and nurture it, we are unstoppable. I read a quote the other day by Julia Cameron, “Clutter is the enemy of clarity”. That is powerful and so very true. The clutter we carry in our minds prevents us from thinking clearly, making solid decisions based on our needs and so much more. The negative self-talk we allow to seep in along with the negative input and actions of those in our lives can be debilitating. We must take our power back and do what is necessary to keep our mindset positive and free of the chaos. Allow yourself some downtime to journal or meditate on the extra baggage you are holding onto in that brilliant brain of yours. And most importantly release it!
Our bodies and spirits are just as important. When we hold on to the clutter in our lives it not only impacts our mindset but our physical body and our spirit. The projects on our to do list, the procrastination of paying bills, making the calls, returning the messages, clearing out the overflowing inbox, sorting the laundry, making the appointment, filling out the form, scheduling the service – all of it impacts us in a multitude of ways. Some of us don’t sleep well, have headaches or chronic pains. We are irritable and moody, unfocused, and rushed and truly just moving at warp speed! STOP! This is not the answer. And while I am not an expert or medical professional of any kind, I do know from experience the danger of burnout and how it impacts our families, our relationships, our jobs and most importantly ourselves. We are worth the effort to clear out some of the clutter. Take a hard look and start small but make it a priority to leave the chaos of 2020 behind you and let’s start fresh with a new outlook for 2021. It’s not too late. There are a few days left in 2020. Use these days to reflect on the good, bad and the ugly. What is working and what is not and commit to yourself to clear the clutter!
